Grey Crag – above Grasmere

A4 Pen and Wash watercolour painting of “Grey Crag – above Grasmere”

Sketched in April 2012 on the return from a walk to the top you see in the paintin. A very cold and very windy day, so windy it nearly blew my rucksack off the top when I took it off to put my waterproof on to keep the chilling wind out. So strong it was reminiscent of a gully climb in the snow on Ben Lawers (over 22 years ago!) where I had to lie down to put my waterproof jacket on and so windy that the toggle on the hood bust my lip when it blew into it - epic. In this case it wasn't just so bad and it didn't rain until we got back to the car - literately! - then the heavens opened - Under different circumstances we would have been drenched and I pity the nice people who we met and were still on the hill when it started.
